Wood, Brian
"I have been a skilled carpenter and furniture maker for years. I began as a child, working with my father building homes and remodeling kitchens and bathrooms. I grew up in the small town of Mansfield, where I also went to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science. At the age of 10, I was first introduced to the lathe, a small Craftsman which I used to make baseball bats. I increased my interest in wood turning in 2005 and bought an old Delta Rockwell Lathe. My garage is now turned into a studio where I turn wood into beautiful objects of art.
I use both domestic and exotic woods to create unique bowls and vses. I enjoy the challenge of combining the different species together in creative patterns that release the woods' inner beauty. Of course, the overall profile or shape of the vessesl is of the greatest importance. The pieces I make are all individual, no two pieces are identical."
